Intune & Device Management

Intune policies aren't applying to devices

Configuration profiles show as assigned, but settings never appear on users' computers or phones.

What you’re seeing

  • Configuration profiles show "Pending," "Error" or "Conflict" for some devices in the Intune portal.
  • Settings such as a Wi-Fi profile, browser homepage or restrictions never appear on the computer or phone.
  • Some devices pick up the policy while others in the same group do not.
  • Changes made in Intune take days to show up, if they show up at all.

Common causes

Every environment is different, but these are the causes our engineers find most often:

  • Two profiles configure the same setting with different values, so Intune reports a conflict and applies neither.
  • The profile is assigned to a user group but the setting only applies to devices, or the reverse.
  • Exclusion groups or assignment filters are removing devices that should receive the policy.
  • Group Policy from on-premises Active Directory is overriding the Intune setting on hybrid joined devices.
  • The setting is not supported on the device's Windows edition, OS version or platform.
  • Devices are not checking in with Intune because of sync failures or expired enrollment certificates.

Why it matters

When policies quietly fail, the organization believes it is protected when it is not. Security baselines, firewall rules, update rings and device restrictions all depend on policies landing correctly, and an audit or insurance questionnaire based on what Intune says is assigned can be wrong in practice. Users also suffer from inconsistent setups, with some missing Wi-Fi, printers or app settings their colleagues already have.

How AskTechGurus fixes it

Skip the trial and error. A certified engineer works on your actual system, finds the root cause, and fixes it properly.

Tell us what’s happening

Submit a ticket in about two minutes. Paste the error, describe what changed, and pick your tier. No charge to submit.

A certified engineer diagnoses it

A vetted, US-based systems engineer claims your ticket, usually within minutes during business hours, and investigates over a secure remote session you can watch and end at any time.

Fixed and verified with you

The engineer resolves the root cause and confirms with you that it’s working. You don’t just get a workaround, and you get a plain-English summary of what was wrong.

Pay only when it’s resolved

Fixed price from $99, invoiced only after you approve the fix. If it isn’t resolved, you don’t pay.

Frequently asked questions

How do we know which of our security settings are actually in effect?

Intune's reports show assignment and per-device status, but conflicts and errors are easy to miss. We review where settings are failing and give you a plain-English summary of what is and isn't being enforced.

Could fixing one policy break another?

It can if conflicts are resolved carelessly, which is why we map the overlapping profiles and confirm the cause before changing assignments.
