These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the AskTechGurus platform, websites, and services (collectively, the "Platform"), operated by Paragon Government Solutions LLC, d/b/a AskTechGurus ("AskTechGurus," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, submitting a ticket, or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
AskTechGurus is a marketplace and technology intermediary that connects clients ("Clients," "you") who need IT support with independent, certified information-technology professionals ("Engineers"). Engineers are independent contractors who use the Platform to offer their services. They are not employees, agents, partners, or representatives of AskTechGurus, and no employment, joint venture, partnership, or agency relationship is created between AskTechGurus and any Engineer.
AskTechGurus does not itself perform the technical work described in a ticket. We provide the software, matching, escrow-style payment handling, and dispute tools that let Clients and Engineers transact. While we vet Engineers before they join the Platform, we do not control and are not responsible for the manner, means, or results of the work an Engineer performs, except as expressly stated in these Terms and our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
A "ticket" is a request to resolve one discrete IT issue — a single, defined technical problem. The flat fee for a standard ticket is $99 (USD), which covers work on that one issue until it is resolved or refunded, including reasonable follow-up on the same issue.
A ticket does not cover multiple unrelated issues, ongoing managed services, or larger project work (such as migrations, build-outs, or compliance programs). If your request is broader than one discrete issue, the Engineer may ask you to split it into multiple tickets or to move to a scoped quote before additional work or charges occur. Pricing for non-standard work is disclosed to you before you commit to it.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Platform. You agree to provide accurate account information, to keep your credentials confidential, and to be responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. We may refuse, suspend, or terminate accounts as described in these Terms.
Payments are processed by our third-party payment processor, Stripe. When you submit a ticket, your payment method is authorized and the ticket amount is held (an escrow-style hold) — it is not released at that moment. Funds are captured and released to the Engineer only when you confirm the issue is resolved, or as otherwise provided in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
AskTechGurus retains a platform fee out of the ticket amount for providing the Platform, matching, payment handling, and support; the remainder is paid to the Engineer. By using the Platform you authorize these charges and payouts. You are responsible for any taxes applicable to your purchases except taxes on AskTechGurus's income.
IT work — especially remote work on live systems — carries inherent risk. You are solely responsible for maintaining current, tested backups of your data and systems before any Engineer performs work. You represent that you have the authority to authorize work on, and remote access to, the systems in your ticket. AskTechGurus and Engineers are not responsible for data loss, corruption, or downtime that could have been prevented by an adequate backup, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Many tickets are resolved through a remote-access session. By starting a session, you grant the assigned Engineer permission to access the specific device(s) and systems necessary to work your ticket, for the duration of that ticket. Sessions are permission-based: you may observe the session and end it at any time. You should close sensitive applications and files not relevant to the ticket before a session begins.
Engineers agree to act professionally, to work only within the scope of the ticket, to maintain the confidentiality of information they access, and to comply with our Acceptable Use Policy and applicable law. Engineers must not install malware, exfiltrate data, or access systems beyond what the ticket requires. Violations may result in removal from the Platform and forfeiture of related payouts.
Except for the fixed-it-or-free guarantee described in our Refund & Cancellation Policy, the Platform and all services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that any particular technical outcome will be achieved, that the Platform will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that defects will be corrected. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, AskTechGurus and its officers, employees, and Engineers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or business, arising out of or relating to the Platform or any ticket, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. This expressly includes loss of, or damage to, data.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, AskTechGurus's total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Platform or a ticket will not exceed the amount you paid for the ticket giving rise to the claim. These limitations are a fundamental basis of the bargain between you and AskTechGurus.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AskTechGurus and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Platform, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any law or the rights of a third party, or the systems and data you authorize work on.
Most disagreements about a ticket can be resolved through our in-Platform dispute process, and you agree to use it first. For any dispute not resolved that way, you and AskTechGurus agree that the dispute will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, on an individual basis and not as a class action, administered under the rules of a recognized arbitration provider in Arlington County, Virginia. You may opt out of arbitration by written notice within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Nothing here prevents either party from seeking relief in small-claims court where available.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to the arbitration provision above, the exclusive venue for any permitted court proceeding is Arlington County, Virginia.
The Platform, including its software, design, logos, and content, is owned by AskTechGurus or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Platform for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the Platform except as permitted by law.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time if you violate these Terms, create risk or legal exposure for us, or for extended inactivity, with or without notice where permitted. You may stop using the Platform at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including payment obligations, warranty disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution — survive.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date and, for material changes, provide additional notice where required. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
