Teams stuck on a white or loading screen

Teams opens to a blank white window or spins on the loading screen forever and never shows chats or channels.

What you’re seeing

  • Teams opens to a completely white or gray window with nothing in it.
  • The loading animation spins indefinitely and chats, channels and calendar never appear.
  • Closing and reopening Teams makes no difference, and the problem often began right after an update.
  • Teams in a web browser works normally for the same user.

Common causes

Every environment is different, but these are the causes our engineers find most often:

  • The local Teams cache has become corrupt, so the app can't load its stored data.
  • Classic Teams and the new Teams are both installed, and leftover components from the old version conflict with the new one.
  • WebView2, the browser engine the new Teams app runs on, is missing, damaged or blocked from updating.
  • Graphics driver problems with hardware acceleration stop the Teams window from drawing its contents.
  • Security software or a web proxy blocks Microsoft addresses Teams needs while it starts up.
  • A stuck sign-in token leaves Teams waiting for an authentication window that never appears.

Why it matters

For many offices Teams is the phone system, the meeting room and the chat channel all in one. A blank window means missed calls, late or missed client meetings and messages that go unanswered while the user waits for the app to load. When an update or policy change triggered it, several computers usually fail at once, and staff lose time trying their own fixes before reporting it.

How AskTechGurus fixes it

Skip the trial and error. A certified engineer works on your actual system, finds the root cause, and fixes it properly.

Tell us what’s happening

Submit a ticket in about two minutes. Paste the error, describe what changed, and pick your tier. No charge to submit.

A certified engineer diagnoses it

A vetted, US-based systems engineer claims your ticket, usually within minutes during business hours, and investigates over a secure remote session you can watch and end at any time.

Fixed and verified with you

The engineer resolves the root cause and confirms with you that it’s working. You don’t just get a workaround, and you get a plain-English summary of what was wrong.

Pay only when it’s resolved

Fixed price from $99, invoiced only after you approve the fix. If it isn’t resolved, you don’t pay.

Frequently asked questions

Can staff use Teams in a browser in the meantime?

Usually, yes. The web version runs separately from the desktop app, so it's a reasonable stopgap while the desktop client is repaired.

Will we lose chat history or files?

No. Teams chats, channel posts and files are stored in Microsoft 365, not on the computer, so they reappear once the app loads correctly.
