Printers & Scan-to-Email

Single-page scans email fine but multi-page scans never arrive

One-page scans arrive by email, but multi-page scans from the same copier never show up, with no error on the copier.

What you’re seeing

  • A one-page scan arrives in the inbox within seconds, but a ten-page scan from the same copier never shows up.
  • The copier reports the multi-page job as sent with no error.
  • Color or high-resolution scans fail more often than black-and-white ones.
  • No bounce message or error notice ever reaches the sender.

Common causes

Every environment is different, but these are the causes our engineers find most often:

  • The resulting attachment exceeds the message size limit on the relay, mail server or recipient mailbox.
  • The copier is set to scan at high resolution or full color, producing files far larger than needed.
  • The SMTP session times out while a large attachment is still uploading over a slow connection.
  • An email security filter quarantines or drops large attachments without sending a notification.
  • The copier's own maximum email size setting silently discards or splits large jobs.

Why it matters

Multi-page documents are often the important ones: contracts, applications, medical records and invoices. When they vanish without an error, staff assume they were delivered, and the gap may not surface until a client or regulator asks for a document that never arrived. Rescanning wastes time, and workarounds like using personal email or USB drives move sensitive documents outside controlled systems.

How AskTechGurus fixes it

Skip the trial and error. A certified engineer works on your actual system, finds the root cause, and fixes it properly.

Tell us what’s happening

Submit a ticket in about two minutes. Paste the error, describe what changed, and pick your tier. No charge to submit.

A certified engineer diagnoses it

A vetted, US-based systems engineer claims your ticket, usually within minutes during business hours, and investigates over a secure remote session you can watch and end at any time.

Fixed and verified with you

The engineer resolves the root cause and confirms with you that it’s working. You don’t just get a workaround, and you get a plain-English summary of what was wrong.

Pay only when it’s resolved

Fixed price from $99, invoiced only after you approve the fix. If it isn’t resolved, you don’t pay.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't the copier show an error?

Many copiers only report whether they handed the message off, not whether it was delivered. The rejection often happens later on the mail server, where the copier never hears about it.

Will smaller scans mean lower quality?

Not noticeably for most office documents. Scan settings can usually be balanced so text stays sharp while files stay within email limits.
