What you’re seeing
- Bounce messages that mention "550 5.7.26" or "unauthenticated email is not accepted from this domain".
- Email to Gmail and Yahoo addresses fails, while mail to business addresses on Microsoft 365 still gets through.
- Customers say your quotes, invoices or password-reset emails land in their spam folder, or never arrive.
- It started suddenly, even though nobody changed anything on your side.
Common causes
Every environment is different, but these are the causes our engineers find most often:
- Your domain has no SPF record, or the SPF record leaves out a service that sends as your domain, such as a CRM, invoicing platform or marketing tool.
- DKIM signing was never turned on for your domain, so messages carry no cryptographic signature.
- There is no DMARC record. Gmail and Yahoo now expect one from organizations that send email at volume.
- A third-party service sends mail using your From address, but its authentication is not aligned with your domain.
- Messages pass through a forwarder or relay that breaks the original authentication on the way.
Why it matters
Gmail and Yahoo hold a large share of consumer inboxes and a growing share of small-business ones. When they reject your mail, customers stop receiving quotes, invoices, receipts and replies, often without anyone noticing for weeks. Lost messages turn into missed payments, abandoned deals and support calls asking "did you get my email?". Because the providers tightened their sender requirements, domains that worked for years can start failing overnight.
How AskTechGurus fixes it
Skip the trial and error. A certified engineer works on your actual system, finds the root cause, and fixes it properly.
Tell us what’s happening
Submit a ticket in about two minutes. Paste the error, describe what changed, and pick your tier. No charge to submit.
A certified engineer diagnoses it
A vetted, US-based systems engineer claims your ticket, usually within minutes during business hours, and investigates over a secure remote session you can watch and end at any time.
Fixed and verified with you
The engineer resolves the root cause and confirms with you that it’s working. You don’t just get a workaround, and you get a plain-English summary of what was wrong.
Pay only when it’s resolved
Fixed price from $99, invoiced only after you approve the fix. If it isn’t resolved, you don’t pay.
Frequently asked questions
Why is it only happening with Gmail and Yahoo?
Google and Yahoo enforce stricter sender authentication than most mail providers. Mail that other systems quietly accept can be rejected outright by them, so they are usually the first place the problem shows up.
Will fixing this affect our other email?
Done correctly, no. Proper SPF, DKIM and DMARC improve delivery to every provider. The risk comes from rushing it: if a sending service is left out, its mail starts failing. That is why we inventory every system that sends as your domain before changing anything.
How quickly can it be fixed?
Most cases are resolved in a single remote session. DNS changes usually take effect within a few hours, and we confirm delivery to Gmail and Yahoo with you before the ticket is closed.
